British soldiers are used to surviving on monotonous rations. But with most action now in the searing heat of Iraq and Afghanistan, the MoD is creating new rations that rely less on beans, biscuits, cocoa and custard.

Handling finances is a crucial matter that requires the checking of minutest details and that too with extra caution. You must be aware of the fact that a slightest mistake can force you to take a u-turn and cover the entire distance all over again. It really becomes tedious if you have to go through all the details again and tally the accounts. The daily expenses, outside expenses, payments, bills, invoices and many things have to be checked out when you are handling the finance accounting department. And during the tax paying season, the work increases to such an extent that you will require the help of outsourcing services.

The idea of outsourcing has been developed to ease the work of all those accounting firms that are covered with work up to their neck. Tax calculating is serious matter that needs to be handled in a proper way to avoid unnecessary hassles. No one wants to have tax raids and push their business in difficulty. It is because of this reason that paying the taxes on time is given prior importance to any other task. With the advent of tax season, accounting firms runs in tension due to the increasing workload. It is this time that outsourcing comes as a rescue.

Finance accounting outsourcing has become an integral part of the business. There are lots of things and finance documents that have to be tallied before you are required to pay the taxes. Balance sheet, profit and loss account, pay roll processes, invoice, financial statements and trial balance are some of the documents that need to be considered. It is quite obvious that you would like to know the amount of tax that you have to pay. If the finance accounting documents are not in a proper order, then you will not be able to know the tax amount.

Being a business owner, you would like that the accounting firms should do the work properly and within the given time frame. Now, you might think that lots of money is going to be wasted in getting the work done. There is lots of finance accounting firms that outsource the work, whenever it is beyond them. In this case, you can be rest assured that your accounting work will be done within the budget amount. You will not have to worry about keeping a specially trained staff for this purpose and paying them whooping salaries, house rent allowances, bonus and likewise add-ons.

Another advantage of finance accounting outsourcing is that you will be able to get your work done in much less time that would have been taken by an in-house staff. Generally, it happens that your own staff might have to handle the other departments that are profit generating and this case it would be difficult for them to pay attention to this aspect. The accounting firms take the help of outsourcing companies so that can deliver the client

Rarely-seen Monet on display

A Claude Monet painting seen in public only once in the past 80 years goes on show in London ahead of its sale.

If you are a parent, you no doubt have asked this question more than once. Are video games good for children?

With all the exposure on the bad games, the violent games that are nothing but blood and guts, it is hard to get past that to the benefits of video games to children.

Yes .. there are benefits.

There are plenty of games out there that are not filled with violence and are geared to children by age. These games are good for children. Have you ever tried playing one of these games? It was tough enough playing “pac man”, right?

If you have never played a video game your child plays, welcome to a new world …. inside the video game world of your child.

Here they are asked to do multiple tasks …. bang, bang, bang … quick moving, quick thinking, quick acting …. to get them to a goal set ahead. It becomes a speed game of chess where the entire game calls for the ability to think ahead . Nothing can develop the strategic thinking of your child so minutely.

The movements dependent on his fingers develop great eye/hand coordination as this problem solving strategy is going on in the brain.

If this is your first attempt at getting inside the video game world of your child, don’t be dismayed if you cannot get past frame one. You are not unique. Now watch your child. You will be amazed .. not only at the speed of his/her finger movements but at the knowledge being displayed as the game goes on. How does he know which way to go? Which door is the correct one… and how does she tell? Which rock is the right one…… Is there a clue telling him?

Don’t worry … they know what they are doing … and all the while they are doing it …. they are getting smarter.

There is one thing to remember however. Video games are good for children .. but … so is playing outdoors and reading and romping with their siblings or friends or dogs or Mom or Dad.

Video games can become almost seemingly addicting so it is up to you .. the parent to regulate the time your children spend playing them and … of course ….. regulate the type of video games they play.

If you are looking for NintendoWii systems or accessories, there is a great collection of them at The Cheap NintendoWii Store.

A comprehensive guide to clinical conditions

Generally speaking, although there are exceptions, it is easier to stay “in touch” with our teenage daughters than it is with our teenage sons. On the surface, it may not appear so, but how often do you get to really talk with your growing son? How much one on one time do you get? And I don’t mean from the stands of a sporting event that he is participating in.

There are several ways to accomplish this major goal as a parent. You could go hiking together, camping, fishing, but these are usually “Dad” times to bond. Some Moms do this as well, but I found something that is fun, a bit challenging, and just about anyone can do it. Now, this is for the Mom whose boys enjoy video games and are completely brilliant at them, getting bored easily because they beat the game so quickly. Ask them to teach you how to play, be very interested, and genuinely wish to learn!

The easiest game I found, and the one my son taught me first, is Dungeons and Dragons Heroes for the XBox. It is a two player game, comes with a tutorial that you stay in until you have it all figured out and learn the controls, the graphics are pretty good, and will retain your sons interest for enough time to get you started. The choices in the two player game catagory are very limited, but after you master Dungeons and Dragons Heroes, try another XBox game called Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 2. This is a more challenging game that will hold both you and your son’s attention a bit longer as there is an awesome side quest to find soul shards. As you get more comfortable with the game systems, you start incorporating other topics into your conversations besides just the games and “which button do I push?” Before long, he will start to tell you important things about his day or even his thoughts. Understand, that if he is really good at the games, for him, it is a relaxing, no brainer activity, and those are the most opportune times to get to know who your son really is.

Yes, it might be a lot of work to learn something new, or you just don’t have time, or it is too hard. OK, this is not for everyone and certainly there are other ways, but this way works And you obtain a skill to boot! Trust me, video games Are a skill! Some help with History, like Age Of Empires will give you is a big plus. Age Of Empires is a PC game that comes in different eras. A brilliant learning tool on the Roman Empire and tacticle manoeuvers, while you learn better to interact with your son.

Or, you could choose a racing game, like Mario Cart! It is a benefit to their later driving abilities and found with the Nintendo systems. Haunted Mansion is an XBox figure it out puzzle type game that boosts your thinking and reasoning skills. Even Fable, which is absolutely brilliant by the way, shows them morality as they and you journey through life. Fable and Haunted Mansion are one player games, but you can help him figure out the puzzles in the Haunted Mansion, and with Fable, the beautiful graphics are like watching a movie play out by your sons hand.

The best part of this adventure through gaming, other than the main purpose of getting closer with your son, is when you can play the cool old stuff we used to play, like Pacman and Gallaga. Nintendo has these for their system. Your son might say that the graphics are a bit on the lame side, but you will enjoy the play time together, no matter how short.

Don’t wait for them to want to do something with you, it may not happen right away. And, offering to do something with your son out in public is not always received with great eagerness. This is at home, no one has to be informed that your son is “hanging out” with his Mom, that is, until you get good and then become a bragging right for your son! Well worth the effort at that point!

You can spend time online at Amazon, or drive down to EB Games or Gamestop for inexpensive, used games. There really are only a few select “greats” that never get old. Enjoy your new skill and the new relationship with your son!

Green energy push planned in UK

Saturday, June 21st, 2008

British homeowners may face higher bills as part of a “green revolution” to reduce fossil fuel reliance.

The game of Carrom is also called as Carroms which is known as a family game played on tabletop. This game has a similarity between the games, table shuffleboard and billiards. Carrom game has many kinds of names across the globe, such as carum, carrum, karam, karom, karum or simply called Indian finger billiards. The origin of this game is unsure; according to some sources this game of Carrom has an Indian origin, while some say that it has a Chinese origin. Countries like Zimbabwe, Ethiopia and North Africa seem to play a role for the origin of the Carrom game. However in the West this game is somewhat similar to billiards.

The game of Carrom is played on plain plywood which is about 74 centimeters or 29 inches. The border of the playing board in bounded with wood bumpers. Here instead of balls like in billiards, here wooden disks are used. It is also called as Carrom coins or pucks. Generally there only four types of coins, black, white, red and a striker. The aim of the game is to strike the coins with the help of the striker and move them into the corner pockets. The red colored coin/puck is called the ‘queen’. Carrom can be played with two to four players. The Carrom board has variations; it is available in smaller size for children and boards with larger corner pockets for beginners to learn the tricks and practice the game.

The American version of the game is quite different as the game is played with cue sticks with checkers or chess like patters in the middle of the board. You can note that, the corner pockets of the board are much larger than the traditional/original Carrom board. The American Carrom was played in 1950s and 1970s in South California, using larger square board and with cue sticks and wooden rings. The Filipino Carrom is played in Philippines which is called ‘pool table’ or ‘Karombola’. The Australian Carrom is similar to the Indian Carrom which is know by the trade mark ‘Puckpool’ which is played using hands without cue sticks. However the Australian Carrom is played only with eight coins, black and white coins plus with a queen or crown puck. The International Carrom Federation (ICF) is the international governing body for the game of Carrom, which has delegates from Sri Lanka, Malaysia, India, Germany, Maldives and Switzerland. The ICF sets the Laws for the Carrom game.

Charity props up NHS cancer care

Friday, June 20th, 2008

The NHS relies heavily on charity money for the treatment and support of children and teenagers with cancer, research finds.

Every country in the world has its own monetary system, and they each have their own coins. Adding coins from all over the world to your coin collection will add diversity and interest to the collection. Imagine coins from North America, Africa, Japan, New Zealand and Russia. The possibilities are almost endless.

Take a look at Africa. Each country in Africa is home to its own culture, and the coins from those countries offer a small part of those cultures. Like many other countries, coins that are from earlier times that are no longer used are more valuable. An example would be the South African pound (they use the rand now). The South African coins were available in 1, 3 and 6 pence, 1, 2, 2.5 and 5 shillings and ½ and 1 pound. All were originally made from silver, but beginning in 1932, some were made in gold. The Gold Krugerrand of South Africa is a highly collectible coin, and was first minted in 1967 to help the South African gold market.

Japan and China have also contributed much to the world of coin collecting. The coins of both countries are different from most coins and are very beautiful. Chinese coins were made by casting rather than being cut by dies like most coins. This makes them very unique. The majority of Chinese coins were circular with a square hole in the middle and decorated with Chinese letters and pictures. The Japanese made similar coins a long time ago, and made them from iron, copper, silver and gold depending on how much the coin was worth. The Japanese put the hole in the center so the coins could be carried easily on a string.

While not as old as other coins in the world, Australian coins were first minted in 1910. Oceanic coins were also considered legal tender in Australia for a long time, and they had an exchange value that worked with the prevailing monetary system. Australia also recognized the Spanish dollar, the English shilling, the Pagoda and the Rupee until 1825, when British currency became the legal monetary system of Australia.

Coins from Greece, New Zealand, Central America and North America are all different and unique. Each country has their own monetary systems that represent different cultures. Canadian coins like the Maple Leaf Gold coin are terrific additions to any world coin collection. Canadian coins all represent some small part of Canada on them. Mexican coins are also very unique since they have portraits of Mexico’s leaders and culture changes from its history.

Adding coins from all over the world to your collection is a great way to learn something new about a different culture. Coins depict leaders, art and history of their countries, which makes each one valuable for many reasons besides the obvious.

Why Bristol will become the UK’s centre of pedal-power

Outdoor toys are an excellent way for children to enjoy the fresh air and get some exercise at the same time. Playhouses, climbing frames, and swing sets are some of the most popular outdoor toys purchased by families today. However, trampolines are probably the most favored recreational outdoor toys purchased by consumers across the world.

Trampolines come in every shape, size, and color imaginable. There are several different types of trampolines used for varied activities. The recreational trampoline is most likely the one known best to the general public. Recreational trampolines can be as small as 34″x34″ square for small children (ages 6 and under), all the way up to 16 feet in diameter for children and adults. Some manufacturers of trampolines for preschoolers contain the trampoline inside a colorful tent or castle, providing a safety enclosure of sorts and sparking the child’s imagination at the same time. Smaller recreational trampolines can be portable, whereas the larger ones are usually assembled and placed in a specific location. This type of trampoline is seen in backyards across the world, on school playgrounds and in gymnasiums.

Professional athletes use competitive trampolines both for strength training and conditioning, but in competition as well. Olympic athletes have used them for the past several years. Gymnasiums use them to help gymnasts become stronger and learn body control. Competitive trampolines are built with more durable components and a very strong fabric. While they are sturdier than recreational trampolines, they are built to be lightweight and portable. The shape and size of this type of trampoline has been standardized, so they are the same size across the world. Since they are used for athletic competitions, competitive trampolines deliver a higher bounce and enable the athlete to perform difficult stunts.

Water trampolines are ideal for lakeside fun. They’re inflatable, portable, float on the water, and can be anchored in the open water. Even though water trampolines are designed specifically for entertainment, they are great for exercise too!

Just as with other outdoor toys, safety rules need to be observed when using all types of trampolines. A few manufacturers build in safety features to their trampolines, or they offer accessories that help to make the trampolines safer to use. One safety feature is a “bulls-eye” stitched into the middle of the canvas. This gives the jumper an awareness of where he is on the trampoline and can therefore stay closer to the middle. There are manufacturers that offer the trampoline with an enclosure (safety net) that is easily attached for further safety. The enclosures are meant to keep the jumper from falling off of the trampoline if they lose control of their jumps.

The bounce mat must be inspected regularly to check for fraying fabric or breakage. Over time, any trampoline bounce mat will succumb to wear and tear and the outdoor elements. Check with the manufacturer concerning their warranty on the bounce mat. Warranties do vary, so be sure you have something in writing. A good standard for a trampoline warranty is 5 years. Trampoline owners may want to consider investing in a cover for their outdoor trampolines to extend the life of the mat.

Bush and Brown’s warning to Iran

Wednesday, June 18th, 2008

Gordon Brown and George Bush hold talks on the second day of the US president’s two-day visit to the UK.

Backgammon has been a popular game for many years. It is a game similar to checkers, however your strategy is the complete opposite. Backgammon instructions are easy to follow and anyone can play Backgammon. When you purchase a backgammon game, there are usually always backgammon instructions that come along to walk you through.

The main goal of the game backgammon is for each of the players to get all of his or her game pieces onto the home board and then to find a way to get all the pieces off the Backgammon board. The first player to achieve this is the winner of the game.

To start the backgammon game, figure out who will go first. You can roll the die for this and whoever gets the bigger number goes first. This is just the easiest way to determine who goes first, without any conflict.

Each player will get a turn to move his or her pieces. The players will first roll the dice before every move. You will move with whatever consists with the roll of the dice. If you roll a 4 and 3, then you will move seven slots. You can break the moves up between two game pieces. In other words, move one four spaces and the other piece three. You just have to make sure you move one game piece in accordance with the number on one of the die rolled. And the other piece in accordance with the other number rolled. The game of backgammon really easy to learn.

If the same number would appear on both dice rolled, then the roller would be allowed double what the number is. For example, if you roll a 2-2, then the roller is allowed four moves instead of two. There are instructions in the game to remind of the hard plays and so you can refer back to when you need to.

You get a point by getting two or more of your game pieces on it. Once this occurs, the opponent cannot come to rest on that point when taking the combination of his dice.

There are different terms and circumstances that must be followed during the course of the game. When you are stuck on what to do, you can go back and look in the instructions to the game to figure it out, has tips and instructions. If you are playing for the first time and your opponent is a pro, then they can help you along and give you pointers throughout the game.
